SUPERVISOR TRAINING PROGRAM (STP)

Supervisor Training Programs are held each year in both Saskatoon and Regina. The site supervisor is instrumental in the success of the project, and your company. This course provides the knowledge they need to select, motivate and direct their workforce. Modules of study include communications, performance evaluations, productivity/quality control, negotiating, training/coaching, scheduling, and time management. This course is an excellent choice for new supervisors or lead hands, and those employees that are interested in becoming supervisors.

ADVANCED SUPERVISOR TRAINING PROGRAM (ASTP)   

5 Gold Seal Points

The Advanced Supervisor Training Program is a follow up to the Superisor Training Program. It offers further study into human resource management with a focus on developing strong interpersonal skills. Completion of the Supervisor Training Program is recommended, but not a pre-requisite to attend this course. Modules of study include interviewing/hiring, decision making, conflict management, report writing, leadership, motivation, team building, drug/alcohol awareness, labour laws. This is an excellent course for supervisors that want to enhance their people skills to get the most out of their crews.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL (CPMP)   

5 Gold Seal Points, 37.5 PMI Professional Development Points (pre-requisites for PMP exam)

Advance project efficiencies and accuracy in your organization by enhancing project managment skills, tools and techniques. In this course you will learn to apply a globally accepted standards-based approach (based on PMBOL 3rd Ed. Construction Ext.) to managing projects and programs. The course covers management basics and advanced topics at a masters certificate level. The content includes theory, hands on experience and project management templates that can be used in the field. The instructor is also available after class for additional coaching/brainstorming as required.

CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS AND CONTRACT LAW (CCCL)

This course is designed to teach and familiarize owners, managers, supervisors and project managers with construction contracts and contract law. Topics of discussion include liabilities and responsibilities both in the office and the field, compiling and submitting proper extras and claims, and ways and means for leaders to avoid conflict with contracts, owners, trades and labour. The course materials include a 200+ page manual summarizing course and documents used in the industry. Each participant can contact Canadian Construction Institute Inc. at any time for answers or clarification to contractual questions or concerns at any time after completion. PROJECT PLANNING AND COST CONTROL (PPCC)

This is the most attended course presented by the Canadian Construction Institute Inc., in conjunction with the Canadian Construction Association's "Gold Seal" Accreditation Program. The Project Planning and Cost Control course is designed to provide owners, managers, estimators, and field personnel with a general knowledge of the process of planning and controlling a project from beginning to end utilizing ways and means of monitoring, saving and controlling costs. We have had over 4,000 construction companies in Western Canada who have attended and they have provided excellent cost saving methods from previous courses we will share in this course. BUILDING YOUR NEGOTIATIONS SKILLS

This course is designed to give managers and supervisors a personalized approach to leading successful negotiations, whether it is with a client, vendor, peer or employee. It has specific construction-related content that is relevant to the participants. The emphasis throughout the course is on using negotiating power to build long term relationships.

CANCELLATION POLICY

 

 
NEW CANCELLATION POLICY
1. If notice of cancellation is received 2 or more weeks prior to start of the course, full reimbursement of fees will be issued.
2. If notice of cancellation is received less than 2 weeks prior to the start of the course, the registrant will be required to pay one half of the course fees.
3. Notice of cancellation must be provided in writing
4. Cancellation of the course by Merit due to low enrollment or other such circumstances will result in all fees being returned to registrants.
